Her Mind is the Weapon.

In battle rap, there are hella “gun bars” that go over my head. pauses the rap battle to google the name of this gun to better understand his metaphor. But the irony is, that they are oftentimes from the streets and using references that connect with them (guns/killing) but in the present, they aren’t going to war with guns, they are going to war with their art of crafting words.

There’s an EP by Saba The Godis called “Mac-Tyn”. A play on words on Mac-10 which is a compact, blowback operated machine pistol/submachine gun. But on this EP….Her mind is the weapon. Her words are the weapon. She is 100% lyrically assassinating everyone in her path hunny. I love it.

People come at us. These fucked up systems in our country come at us. Predatory industries come at us. How are we fighting? As much as I feel that some people need to be punched in the face, the way I usually fight, is by using the frustration and anger as fuel to create. We create things that are so beautiful that they work to dismantle the shit that THEY built to keep us bound. We create programs, songs, art, events, new systems and projects that chip away at what we hate in this world and create a little bit of what we love.

Her mind is the weapon.

I honestly can’t think of a more powerful weapon to have in this world. It is something that cannot be taken away from us. It is something that we can keep 100% protected from being controlled or corrupted. It is something that connects us with the subtle spiritual energies in our world and deeply intertwined with the power of our ancestors and those brilliant thinkers that came before us. It is something that holds the power to create new worlds. It is something that has the power to set us all free. It can dream up ways to destroy the current power structure and compassionately and creatively build a new one. Our minds are powerful.

It’s obvious that we are at war. Strap up. Your mind is the weapon.
